Step 1 – Installing the spacer pads
Attach the plastic spacer pads to the underside of the decking board using the 4×20 mm screws included in the kit.
The spacers are installed upside down, each time positioning them against the side edge of the board so that the spacer rests directly against the edge of the board, ensuring the correct expansion gap.
The spacers should be fixed on both sides of the board, offset by 20 mm from each other.
Step 2 – Fixing the board to the joists
Turn the board with the spacers fitted over and place it on the prepared supporting structure – the joists.
Once the board is correctly positioned, secure it to the joists using the 4×35 mm screws included in the kit.
Step 3 – Installing the next board
The next decking board, with spacers fitted as per Step 1, should be pushed up against the previously fixed board.
As you slide the board into place, the spacers on the new board should slide under the board already in place until the expansion gap of the spacer rests against its edge, ensuring an even gap between the boards.
Step 4 – Final fixing of the board
Once the board is correctly positioned, secure the protruding part of the spacer on the opposite side to the joists using 4×35 mm screws.
Repeat these steps for the subsequent boards until the entire decking surface is complete.
IMPORTANT
When installing the first board directly against the wall, or the last board at the end of the decking, first attach the spacer to the joist – upside down – and then tighten it to the board from below using screws and a flexible screwdriver bit.
